Strategic Direction #1: Improving teaching and personalized learning for the development of each learner.

How will we   measure?  Raise the number of students meeting state   standards in Reading and Math by 2-6   percentage points.
 What are we   doing?
  • Implement Reading Curriculum (Being a Reader K-4, along with Sonday Phonic).

  • Early primary grades teaching staff participating in CORE Literacy training aligned with MN Read Act

  • Implement instructional best practices integrating Math Expressions with fidelity.

  • Provide best fit academic and behavior interventions to support student growth.

  • Review schoolwide academic data regularly with staff to inform instruction.

  • Have more lessons that involve active learning by students.

 What will   you notice?
  • More lessons on work on important academic vocabulary.
  • Checks of student learning that could be short quizzes and student reflections. Some will be paper and pencil, and some will be electronic.

  • Increased confidence, proficiency and building-wide student achievement.

Strategic Direction #2: Fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

How will we   measure?  Increase the number of students saying they   have a trusted adult at school and feel safe at   school. Monitor progress of students' social,   academic and emotional needs and how   students, staff, and parents feel about their   Victoria Elementary Experience.
 What are   we doing?
  • Ensure a Morning Meeting experience to support social, academic and emotional growth and development.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies and Conscious Discipline

  • Social Worker meeting with every single student 3x per year

  • Regularly review school-wide behavior expectations with students

 What will   you notice?
  • All stakeholders feel seen, heard, valued, and trusted.
  • Students experience staff that know them individually and support their unique gifts and talents.
